Socially, Politically and Culturally Conscientious Films
Roam films (Roam LLC), based in NYC, was founded
in 1994 by film producer/director Shimon Dotan, with the goal of
producing socially, politically and culturally conscientious narrative and documentary films. Some of Roam's recent projects have been
co-productions between Canada, France, Israel, and China. Roam Films has
produced numerous award-winning films. Recent projects include H Is For Human, on the
continuing spread of the HIV pandemic, HOT HOUSE, about the Palestinian
prisoners in Israeli jails (winner of the Special Jury Prize at
Sundance 2007 for Best World Documentary) and Watching TV With the Red
Chinese, about three exchange students contemplating the cultural gap
between China and the USA. Whether making documentaries that explore
global trends or original features that explore human relationships, we
aim to entertain and inform through thoughtful consideration of the
world around us.
